The Holidays are Nearly Here - Are You Ready?

It's time once again to face the holidays.  Every year between November and January most of us feel a combination of dread and anticipation about the mountains of holiday food that are bound to be a part of every gathering.  Holiday food is so yummy, comforting, and emotionally satisfying, and it's easy to get caught off guard and go into 'holiday autopilot" mode.   Many of us simply make the traditional holiday food we have always made, and eat the food that's near us at social and family gatherings.  Many times we  don't even think about what we're eating, or we just resign ourselves to a few months "food helplessness".  The problem is, its difficult to completely enjoy the holiday bounty, because every indulgence comes with a price.  Feelings of guilt, low energy, and weight gain are just a few of the negative consequences associated with giving in to holiday temptations.  After the post-holiday weight gain and sluggishness take over, we're temporarily  motivated to start our new years resolution to eat better and live better.  Does this sound familiar?  I've been there too.
