#10 Set A Goal, Write It Down, Commit To Accountability

People who write down their goals and use accountability strategies are much more successful at accomplishing their goals than those who don’t.  Your holiday season will be much more healthy if you make a habit of choosing a goal, writing it down, and decide how you are going to be accountable.  This can be as easy as taking one of the ideas from this guide, writing it down on paper, and choosing an accountability partner to report to.  You can even do something as simple as keeping a tracking sheet of everything you eat and drink every day, then reviewing your progress at the end of the day.  Download Your FREE Daily Tracking Sheet Here.





#11  Remember The 80/20 Rule 

Getting healthy is about progress not perfection.  The truth is, if you are making healthful choices most of the time, your body can probably handle a few holiday indulgences.  Keep up your foundational habits of drinking a green smoothie every day, eating enough protein, eating 10+ servings of fruits and veggies every day, and staying hydrated.   Do your best to have a whole food back up plan most of the time, and then let go of the stress, relax, and enjoy the season. 





#12 Give Nourishing Gifts

Give the gift of health to yourself and your loved ones this year.  Make some healthy holiday treats to give as gifts to family and friends, or give a membership to  Academy For Healthy Living or  the “Healthy Holiday  Bundle” to a loved one who wants to learn how to prevent and reverse chronic illness by falling in love with nourishing whole foods.  


#13 Nurture Yourself Without Food

If you are trying to motivate yourself to make healthier holiday food choices consider that there are so many other aspects to the holidays besides food.  Make a goal to put self-love and self care at the top of your priority list.  Create a list of 5 ways to nurture yourself without food, and use those things to reward you for making healthy choices even when it’s hard.  Pamper yourself a massage, a pedicure, a long hot bath, or a movie as ways to reduce stress and make this holiday season memorable.


#14 Eliminate Temptation

If you are trying clean up your eating for the holidays, make sure to keep your personal space clean and full of healthful alternatives.  Clean out your kitchen, (or office) and get rid of anything that has sugar, corn syrup, industrial oils, or refined flour in it.  If someone gives you a holiday treat that you shouldn’t be eating, give it away or throw it away.  If it’s sitting around in a convenient location you’re sure to eat it sooner or later.   Most importantly, don't just get rid of unhealthy food and leave a gaping hole of deprivation in its place.  Fill your fridge and freezer with yummy, nutrient dense alternatives that will keep your taste buds and your body happy.
